On the road again, she just can't wait to get on the road again... I think in some ways I might have triggered a 'road going tripper' when I assured Liz it was a great idea that she get involved with the Intuit Trainer/Writer network. Well, she is back on the road again, and this time she is headed out to AccountEx USA in Boston.
Now if you want to know, she left early so as to make certain she didn't get caught up in any of the travel delays that might be associated with the approaching hurricane... or at least that's what she said. Personally, I think it was so she could eat a few more Lobsters, along with some more bowls of Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque, (we don't get much of that here in land-locked Oklahoma) and to take in the beauty of the Atlantic seaboard at this time of year... but who can blame her, certainly not me!
AccountEx USA is just Days Away
Over 50 presenters, 70+ sessions, 102 vendors and the brightest attendees there is a lot to gain by attending this year’s Accountex USA. Plus, conferences are a blast! Being with people who speak numbers for fun is stimulating. It’s like being in an exhilarating think tank with some of the world’s best and brightest.
The goal of the conference is to help accountants grow in their knowledge and abilities using innovative solutions and methods. By attending you can obtain new skills and best practices to utilize within your own practice and to implement in your clients’ businesses.
As the contributor and interpreter of our clients books it’s important to stay on top of our rapidly evolving industry. It’s not just all the new technology available but it’s also the opportunities we have to change the way businesses operate. Sometimes all it takes is one good idea, amazing workflow or technology system to make a huge impact.
There is a real shake-up of how people interact with the world and apps are now a part of everyday life. My goodness, I personally have over 100 apps on my phone! Sure, some of them are for fun but others create efficiency or allow me to do something not otherwise possible.
Each of the sessions have golden nuggets of information the presenters openly share. As accountants we all have the same struggles and challenges, hearing a different method can be wildly thought-provoking.
To help you understand how I find accounting conferences I have written out a few of my favorite take-aways:
- Rejuvenating
- Enlightening
- Fun
- Networking opportunities
With so much to see and do it’s important to plan out what are your top priorities. Each conference I create one goal. Some of our firm’s goals in the past have been receipt capture, employee compensation ideas from my peers, reporting solutions and client monthly review meetings. The course I am most excited about is during the PreEvent Workshop day. I will be attending the Geni Whitehouse workshop, “How to add maximum value for your growing clients $” in which she will share how she uses tools and insights for planning, measuring and communicating business results at each client level.
No matter what your goals are there is tons of accessible information from presenters and exhibitors. Don’t miss out on connecting with peers too. Especially at meal times, these are the best opportunities for sharing what you have heard during the sessions and what you hope to gain out of the conference. Plus, this is your chance to ask lots of questions of people like yourself. Most importantly don’t underestimate yourself because you too have experiences which can help others.
