Guess what? I am traveling for Toronto for QuickBooks Connect! I liked San Jose so much that I am going to Canada too! I’m looking forward to meeting the legendary Canadian ProAdvisors. As luck would have it, I get to bunk with internationally-renowned ProAdvisor… Esther Friedberg Karp! I am ecstatic to see how girl time is spent in Canada, as Esther, Heather Satterley, and I will be having nightly sleepovers!
QB ‘Appy Hour and Chata.ai at QBC, San Jose became buddies as they were one of the App Showdown finalists and gave us “Toques”, as they call it in Canada. Now their swag will be keeping my noggin warm while visiting. While toques may be protecting us from the cold, I wonder what protection I will need from being gobbled-up by a polar bear?
As it is my first time traveling to Canada, I’m super excited! Stay tuned for some quick updates about my QBC Canadian adventures!
From the Editor:
QuickBooks Connect Canada is, as you might imagine, the Canadian version of QuickBooks Connect. It's being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center this week. Intuit has been hosting this Canadian conference for the last few years and just like QuickBooks Connect San Jose, the Toronto version will feature sessions geared toward accountants, small business owners, bookkeepers, and software developers.
Some session titles include ‘Digital Advertising 101’, ‘Leadership lessons’, ‘Using QuickBooks Online for Your Small Business’, ‘Managing Client Relationships’, ‘Building Innovative Apps’, ‘Scaling Your Business for Success’, ‘How to Succeed as an Entrepreneur’, and ‘Connecting Your App to the Right Customer’.
Some of the motivational speakers appearing on the main-stage include Scott McGillivray, a Real Estate Investor, Author and Entrepreneur; Jann Arden, a renowned musician and bestselling author; and Jon Montgomery, a gold medal Olympian and host of Canada’s Amazing Race. For more information regarding these speakers, along with other featured and break-out session speakers, see the Intuit Speakers webpage.
Prior to the start of the conference Intuit Canada also conducted a 'Small Business Hackaton' in which App developers were challenged to create a new solution to save small businesses time and money. The winner will be announced during the main event.
More than forty exhibitors will be set-up in the exhibit hall of the North Building of the Convention Center giving participants the opportunity not only see the various software applications but also visits with developer personnel. For a list of exhibitors see the Intuit Exhibitor webpage.
Accountants, Bookkeepers and ProAdvisors will also have the opportunity to participate in some ‘intensive training sessions’ covering QuickBooks Online (Core) Certification training, QuickBooks Online Advance Certification training, a Workflow Master Class, Advanced Payroll Training, and ProFileT1 and T2 Tax training.
We here at Insightful Accountant would like to extend our wishes for a 'grand success' to Jeff Cates, President of Intuit Canada and all of his team with regard to this year's QuickBooks Connect Canada (Toronto) 2018. We hope everyone attending has some great connections.
And lastly, please Jeff, don't let Liz get gobbled-up by a 'polar bear' while she is in the great north, we need her to keep writing QBO articles for us.
