Fall is my favorite time of year. And, because it's combined with QuickBooks Connect, this fall is going to be spectacular.
Just like many of you wondering if you should attend QuickBooks Connect, I had to consider if I should go to another conference, too. That's why I wanted to take this opportunity to share my findings (and why I am stoked to attend).
First off, you get to be CONNECTed! I know that sounds canned, but the more I dug for answers as to the main driver behind QuickBooks Connect, the more I read about Intuit development.
One of the major differences between the two big QuickBooks conferences is that one is about the product, and the other is about the people who provide ProAdvisors, accounting and bookkeeping services using the product.
Both are vital for our survival.
Think about it this way – when composite wood first hit the market, builders needed to learn how to use the new product and all its capabilities. Today, it's the preferred product of decks and playgrounds because of its durability.
So, if QuickBooks Connect is about the product as well as the add-on apps used with it, then ProAdvisors, accountants and bookkeepers must dive in and learn about the direction of the product were using to build our businesses and train our clients.

QuickBooks Connect is the location of many new functionality reveals and the direction the QuickBooks Online platform is taking, including the continued expansion of integrated products like Bill.com, TSheets and others.

Staying current is the key to being relevant.
The way QBO bank feeds has changed the lives of many small businesses is astonishing. To think that a Bot can auto-select the best match of accounts is almost mind-boggling, too.
I wanted to be where the next big reveal is made, and this year, that's QuickBooks Connect.
Scaling New Heights is about educating the people in the ProAdvisor, accountant and bookkeeping industry by coaching the skills and mindset we need to use the products and platforms. This helps us get the most out of the innovative technology and embrace the trends that affect our lives and the lives of our clients.
Both of these events will excite you. They will ignite a fire in you to go forth and bravely embrace the future.
While these two conferences seem intertwined, both have a specific purpose. Both share a common purpose that includes filling us with passion and reminding us why we love what we get to do every day. What we do is “transform small business through small business advisors.” Okay Joe Woodard, I just used your priceless mission statement.
I understand that it may be hard to commit to attending both conferences. As our office has become essentially mobile, we have committed to staying current in terms of technology and the industry. If want to become a Firm of the Future, I think you'll recognize the importance of staying on top of both as well.
So, as I said I'm stoked at attending QuickBooks Connect. Now here's what I can expect:
- Tremendous breakout sessions with the best-of-the-best experts.
- Main-stage presentations by life-changing speakers.

- The opportunity to mingle with other accountants, bookkeepers, ProAdvisors and small business owners in an environment designed to share valuable insights. By the way, this is my favorite part of attending these conferences.

- Vendor app demonstrations and booths with giveaways.
Now is the best time to get signed up for QuickBooks Connect. Right now, there is a special offer that gets you a 50 percent savings if you sign up before Aug. 31, 2017. That means it only costs $258 for a three-day accountant pass, instead of the full $599 price.
