Accounting professionals who need to learn QuickBooks Online (QBO) in order to take and pass the QuickBooks Online Certification Exam have the opportunity to take a 2-part exam preparation class at QuickBooks Connect. The class will be taught by Laura Redmond on Tuesday October 21 and Wednesday October 22.
Named as one of Intuitive Accountant's Top 100 and Top 10 ProAdvisors, Laura Redmond is an Advanced
Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, an Advanced Certified Method Developer, a member of the Trainer/Writer Network, the co-author of the QuickBooks Online certification, the founder of Redmond Accounting Inc, and the co-founder of Cloud Consultancy LLC. At Redmond Accounting Inc, Laura offers small businesses cloud-based Client Accounting Services and QBO Pro’s Consulting, and at Cloud Consultancy LLC, she creates apps that small businesses can use to automate their manual processes.
As the co-author of the training material for the QuickBooks Online Certification she is looking forward to these live classes. She said, “I enjoy doing them. I work on the training material and this gives me a chance a couple times a year to sit in the room with some people who take the exam and understand if the content is clear and helpful enough. I also feel very passionate about cloud accounting and very open to sharing my experiences with attendees.”
People that attend these classes will be able to learn all the basics of QuickBooks Online including:
- Navigation (where everything is and how to do everything)
- Transactions (discussing how to enter financial transactions and what type there are)
- Reporting
- Troubleshooting
- Accountant tools
To fully prepare attendees for the exam, Laura said, “I’ll try to focus on two things: covering everything they need to know about the product and teaching them about the new QuickBooks Online stuff to keep them updated.” When asked how she’ll make the information easier to understand, she said that there are two things she’ll be doing:
- covering the material in a specific order
- talking to the accountants in an accountant language
To explain the first point, Laura said, “The part of accounting that’s always interested me is the organization of the financial information and it having to reconcile. I've been color-coding my closets since I was a little girl so I enjoy using organization in my classes. That’s why I want to cover the navigation, the user interface, and the user experience, and do a really good review of the layout of the software in a specific order.” To explain the second point, she said, “And the second thing is talking to them as accountants from the debits and credits side of things. When you're speaking the same language they remember it because you are talking their language."
Therefore, the 3 main takeaways attendees will receive by attending these classes will be:
- Training
- Interaction (including Q&A)
- More confidence and understanding of the cloud
Laura will also be providing tips and tricks throughout the class to help attendees when they’re studying for the exam or taking it, and she will use her experience to answer questions. Her teaching style is solution-based so she’ll be teaching you and showing you the solutions the software provides.
Attending this two part class will prepare you for the exam much more quickly than studying on your own and will still give you plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the conference.
