For people who already understand basic accounting, but who need to learn QuickBooks in order to take and pass the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification Exam, there will be a 7-part exam preparation class “QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification Exam Preparation (Parts 1–7)” on Monday (full-day) and Tuesday (morning). This class will be taught by MB Raimondi.

She has also worked for Real World Training where she taught QuickBooks nationally for 10 years and for Intuit and other organizations where she has taught QuickBooks for many years by developing and presenting the training. She currently works as a CPA where she does some tax returns, but mainly does QuickBooks training and consulting. What really makes her stand out though is her love for what she does.
She said,” I love QuickBooks. I love teaching. It’s a good marriage.” And it’s because she enjoys her job so much that she wants to make her exam preparation classes both beneficial and enjoyable for attendees.
The classes will be divided into 7 parts so that attendees will be able to learn QuickBooks from the beginning to the end. This will be beneficial in 2 ways:
- you’ll be able to learn QuickBooks more easily because you’ll be learning the different parts in a logical order
- you’ll save time by learning how to get it right from the beginning
To elaborate on the second point MB said, “You can learn it on your own, but if you do so and find out it’s not right then it’s going to cost you more. So you benefit by attending these classes because you learn how to do it right the first time.”
These classes will also be beneficial for the following reasons:
- you’ll have more fun attending a live class (there will be jokes, candy, and examples that will better help you understand what you’re learning)
- you’ll learn what you need to know to pass the exam (you’ll get advice on how to take the exam)
- you’ll be able to ask questions
- you’ll have a chance to meet other people who are in the same boat as you
- you’ll come away with a lot of knowledge
MB said, “My ultimate goal is to get attendees to understand how QuickBooks works, to help them start thinking outside of the box, and to give them the tools that they can research to try to figure out the answers to help their clients.”
Therefore, the 3 main takeaways attendees will receive by attending these classes will be:
- Becoming prepared to take the exam
- Having the tools available to help them research answers
- Being able to learn QuickBooks in depth
Attendees will also benefit by learning MB’s special skill: how to think outside of the box when helping your clients.
One of the reasons MB knows QuickBooks so well and why she became a QuickBooks consultant is because of her work experience with Real World Training. She said:
“I was teaching all different kinds of businesses and getting all different kinds of questions and that made me start thinking outside the box.”
When asked how she’s able to help attendees think outside of the box, she explained that she uses concrete examples in her classes. She said:
“So I may answer a question and someone that doesn’t know QuickBooks very well may say ‘No, you can’t do that,’ and I’ll say ‘Well okay,’ and give an example. So for instance, I have a client right now, an architect, who wants to invoice in a very specific way and so we’re trying to figure out how to do it so that he’s happy with it. QuickBooks invoicing isn’t exactly what he wants so I’ll say to him ‘let’s play with it and try a couple of different ways to do it to make it so you don’t have to create your invoices in Excel and record it in QuickBooks to check your receivables. Because my goal would be to do everything in QuickBooks so you only have to enter information once. And it may be that we need a third party app to do what you need to do because you can’t do it in QuickBooks. But you’ll still only be entering information one time.’ So one way out of the box thinking can really help you is when you have clients that have been in business a long time and only want to do things one way.”
MB makes herself available to those in her classes and said that they will be able to call her or email her if they have any other questions before taking the exam. For attendees who want to become certified ProAdvisors, these classes are sure to make studying for the exam a lot more fun and interesting than studying on your own.
