Well QuickBooks Connect will be here before we know it, and as we count down the days I will be starting my series to not only bring you pre-conference information on who will be instructing content, but also who will be exhibiting. There are always great speakers at QuickBooks Connect, and I have already told you about a dozen of them in two of my earlier articles, but just as in those features I want to go ahead and tell you about a 'few more' of some of the people I could go on-n-on about, that you absolutely do not want to miss.
Matthew Fulton has been doing a lot of webinars on Insightful Accountant over the last six months, and I have sat in on several of them. Mostly he has been covering QuickBooks Online Advanced and providing our audience with a deep-dive into the features that QBO-Advanced offers mid-market clients.
Now Matthew isn’t an Intuit Sales Guy, he is one of us, he's an Advanced Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor and also Workflow Specialist with ‘real live QuickBooks clients’ of his own. In fact, he is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Parkway Business Solutions, where his his passion for technology leads him to create time-saving tools for accountants and bookkeeping solutions to fit the needs of the modern small business owner.
And, as the co-creator of QB Community Live, Matthew dedicates time helping his fellow community members dedicated to the belief that “Together We All Succeed”.
Alicia Katz Pollock is another recent addition to the contributing team here at Insightful Accountant, you probably noticed that about five or six weeks ago she began writing a new QuickBooks Online Basics series for us. Truth is that Alicia is a prolific writer, she has three texts about QuickBooks and one about Microsoft Word (all available from Amazon), and she operates not only her own consulting/training business called Royalwise.com but also goes out on tour with the Intuit Trainer/Writer network. In fact Alicia will be on the Fall, 2019 tour QuickBooks tour probably as you read this, or soon thereafter.
Alicia blends the skills of technology, the patience of a teacher, the wisdom of a consultant, and the detailed eye of an obsessive-compulsive to provide the finest in business solutions. In fact her consulting was recognized by Fit Small Business’s Top Accounting Consultants for 2018.
And, as if all of that wasn't enough, Alicia also runs a membership based QBO Mentorship program.
Victor 'Vic' Madeira is someone I call 'Friend, with a capital F'. Of course, many of you may know his wife Laura who writes much of the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop content, but Vic is just as much a highly qualified QuickBooks Professional skilled in 3rd party integrations for both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. In fact, just within the past week or so, he and I were discussing a variety of solutions for a complex eCommerce integration with QuickBooks that needed a very special touch and leave it to Vic to get it 'just right', because that is the kind of 'details guy' he is. Vic doesn't stop until he finds the perfect solution for his clients each and every time, no matter how much time he personally must spend experimenting, testing and working things out to make certain that it's going to work perfectly for them.
Vic is not only Advanced Certified in QuickBooks Desktop and Online, but also Enterprise Solutions, and he has been one of Insightful Accountant's Top 100 ProAdvisors every year since the program began. He is also a member of Intuit's Trainer/Writer Network, and he serves as President of ACS, Inc. the consulting company which he and Laura own in the greater Dallas (TX) area.
And now for something I normally do not do, and that is talk about two people together...but these two people seem to be 'joined at the hip' at times, so how could I possibly talk about them separately. I am of course talking about the 'appyhour twins' Heather Satterley and Liz Scott.
Heather and Liz
Now all of you know Liz, my partner in crime at least four months out of twelve when it comes to QB Talks for the QBO Quarterly Update (and perhaps a few other shows), not to mention her weekly QBO Monday Minute features. I can only say that I am fortunate enough to have met Liz on a plane between Oklahoma City and San Antonio a few years back headed for Scaling New Heights. I will say here and now that I looked into my crystal ball and knew right then and there that she would become a big 'Internet Star' (or Co-star with Heather's Help) and it would be 'off to Hollywood'.
Well, perhaps that is carrying it a bit too far, but I am certain if you 'take in the 'appyhour' you get my drift. Heather and Liz have a 'mega rating' because they blast off every time the show launches to bring those attending a wealth of information and entertainment as well. Now it isn't all just fun and games with these two, take Heather for example...
Did you know that Heather actually holds both a BS in Accounting and a Masters Degree in 'Innovation'? I must admit I am not innovative enough to even know what a degree in innovation is! I suspect her 'innovation excels' in Heather's own practice, Satterley Training & Consulting, LLC because as 'Chief Integration Wizard' she loves to make things work for people, and one of her favorite ways to do that is to 'Zap them' with Zapier, sounds kind of like 'Merlin the Magician.'
I mentioned I met Liz flying from Oklahoma City to San Antonio; at the time I wasn't even aware that she was a ProAdvisor living and working in OKC, but even though she worked for Accounting Lifeline her practice became the 'lifeline' by which I could start tapering off of my own when I needed to begin winding down.
Of course, both Heather and Liz hold QuickBooks ProAdvisor Advanced Certifications and status as Members of the Intuit Trainer/Writer Network and both almost always tour teaching QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Advanced and other course curriculum for Intuit road shows. When they do make a teaching appearance together their classes are always packed, so you can count on that being true at QuickBooks Connect as well.
QuickBooks Connect is being held at the San Jose (Ca) McEnery Convention Center on November 6, 7 and 8.
November 6 is this year's 'Accountant's Day' which is designed for accounting professionals and features industry-specific breakout sessions including those taught by many of the speakers I mentioned above. This is your opportunity to 'pick the brains' of people like Matthew Fulton, Alicia Pollock, Vic Madeira, Heather Satterley and Liz Scott about QuickBooks, their favorite Apps, problems you have seen with an App integration, or simply ask "how they deal with a client situation?" Folks, this is a big part of what 'the Connect' in QuickBooks Connect is all about.
November 7 & 8 provides an opportunity business owners, experts, vendors and other mentors to interact with you, the accounting professionals and ProAdvisors who know QuickBooks.
All three days offer an Exhibit Hall with sponsor-partners offering the latest innovations, tools and trends designed to work with QuickBooks and impact your business and streamline workflows. You will have the opportunity to meet with product experts at their product booths where you can explore hands-on activities including product demos, ask questions and receive personalized help and advice via one-on-one sessions, and more.
So, get all the details about sessions, keynote speakers, hotels, travel deals, and registration at the official Intuit QuickBooks Connect website.
Check back for my next QuickBooks Connect feature when I will take a look at some of the keynote speakers along with more of the shop-talk presenters.
