Private sector employment increased by 227,000 jobs from September to October according to the October 2018 ADP National Employment Report®. Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge. The ADP National Employment Report is produced by the ADP Research Institute® in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics. The report, which is derived from ADP’s actual payroll data, measures the change in total non-farm private employment each month on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

Small businesses – 29,000 (1-19 employees - 7,000, 20-49 employees - 22,000)
Medium businesses - 96,000 (50-499 employees - 96,000)
Large businesses - 102,000 (500-900 employees - 30,000, 1000+ employees - 73,000)

Goods-producing - 38,000 (manufacturing and construction both increased by 17,000 while natural resources & mining increased by 4,000)
Service-providing - 189,000 (which included Trade/transportation/utilities at 61,000, Leisure & Hospitality at 40,000, Professional/business services at 36,000, Education & Health at 31,000, and Financial Activities at 4,000)
Franchise Employment - 13,200 (franchise-related jobs increased by 13,200)
