The articles and discussions are endless: The accounting industry is experiencing a talent crisis. To get a feel for how the industry is addressing the situation, the Center for Accounting Transformation and CPA Trendlines are conducting its staffing strategies study.
Working to reach as many accounting professionals as possible, it needs your help. Finding data on who's doing what and how, the study will help identify leading practices and innovative approaches that can be used moving forward.
The study, "Own the Unknown: Staffing Strageties Survey," will address four main categories:
- Internal hiring — traditional hiring (i.e. four year accounting majors), but also hiring of community college for entry level positions, EAs for personal returns, etc.
- External hiring and alternate staffing — gig workers, outsourcing, offshore, shared staffing via associations
- Workload reduction — use of automation, AI and other technologies
- Demand reduction — niching/specialization, client/customer culling, etc.
There is no obligation to be involved, but your help is much appreciated. The results will be published in early 2024.
