In a recent article penned for National Underwriter’s Property Casualty 3601, Ari Vared2 wrote about the ‘5 cybersecurity best practices for SMBs with remote employees.’ In this article, Vared’s first 'Best Practice' is the importance of enforcing basic cybersecurity hygiene, mentioning that “all it takes is one employee… to cause the chain to break.”
Vared’s second 'Best Practice' is ‘reigning in Shadow IT’ which “refers to computer systems, applications or devices being used without organization knowledge or approval.” His third 'Best Practice' is to organize back-end technologies to ensure “a seamless work environment for remote employees…”
Vared continues his discussion by citing the importance of ‘Duplicate Storage’ as his fourth 'Best Practice.' Lastly, he stresses the value of ‘Cyber Insurance’ as 'Best Practice' number five.
When you consider the fact that more than 3.9 million American workers are doing their work remotely, you can understand the importance of these ‘best practices,’ which we have only outlined from Mr. Vared’s article. For all the details, be certain to read the full article in the March 14, 2019 edition of National Underwriter’s Property Casualty 3601. If you have worker's who work away from the office, or you have clients with workers who do, you really do need to read this article!
