“Our profession has been hit hard by COVID and all of the changing regulatory demands, IRS issues, and the stress of working with clients who are also feeling the impact of the pandemic and running their businesses,” said Brolin. “It’s taking its toll in the form of burnout, increased mental health challenges, and practice management issues as well as the overall feeling of many professionals that things are not going to get better in the foreseeable future. I feel compelled by my own calling to leave people better than I found them to be The Designated Motivator for my accounting peers and to draw on my own ups and downs to let them know that there is a path forward and that there is always action you can take to right your ship and sail on to better days.”
Brolin defines herself as a Designated Motivator, or DM, for short—an individual who has the passion and ability to give others the greatest gift of all: the realization and mobilization of their true potential. She knows there are millions of other people who share these qualities and she has been working to inspire them into action by creating a global Motivation Movement. She details her DM framework in her book, The Designated Motivator, and will offer even more specific advice, tools and tactics for CPAs, tax professionals, bookkeepers, and others in the accounting profession in her forthcoming book, The Designated Motivator for Accounting Professionals which will be published in October 2021.
