Editor's Note: This is another installment in our ongoing series highlighting this year's Insightful Accountant's "2018 Top 100 ProAdvisors." Over the remainder of the year, we will introduce you to our winners, getting their insights on a wide range of topics, including what it is like to be a leader in their profession, how to stay on top and what the future holds.
Beverly Lang is our QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor for 2018. One of the 9 categorical winners we had this year. She is the president of Diversified Business Solutions.
Tell us about how you got started in the business.
A former corporate controller, I founded Diversified Business Solutions in 2008. I saw a need for someone to help small businesses understand the accounting and payroll requirements.
Tell us a little about your practice.
My practice is a one woman show – just me! I work closely with my Intuit family for the needed support to help me be successful and offer economical and efficient services. I am so thankful for my Intuit family supporting me as one of the Executive QuickBooks Solutions Providers.
What was the biggest surprise you saw in the past YEAR?
Being honored as the 2018 Top QBO ProAdvisor. I was humbled and honored to be recognized when there are so many great ProAdvisor’s.
What is the biggest item on your to-do list in the upcoming YEAR?
A trip to Vancouver British Columbia with my son for fall break. I want to Work to Live and not Live to Work.
What advice would you give to today's accountants?
The worst thing you can do for yourself is become complacent. You can't wait for things to happen to you -- if you want something bad enough, you have to make it happen. And if you find that sounds too difficult, it probably means you don't want it enough.
Your first thoughts on getting news of the honor?
I was not able to attend Scaling New Heights this year due to a family event so when my phone started blowing up with congratulations I thought it was a joke or someone was confused. Then I started getting pictures of the Stage with my picture on it and I was speechless. We had to pull over so I could collect myself and take in the awesomeness of winning this award!
Why is continuing to enhance your skills and acumen critical to staying one step ahead of the curve?
I work closely with Intuit as a consultant for development of QBO and Payroll. This allows me to stay on top of the product while also expressing the customer’s needs to Intuit.
And a Special Thanks to our Sponsors: Canon, AbacusNext, Neat, Avalara, Landy Insurance, Intuit QuickBooks and Scaling New Heights.
