“You Catch the Ball, You Throw the Ball, You Hit the Ball”. The fundamentals of baseball explained by Skip (actor Trey Wilson in the movie Bull Durham). These are as true today as they were when created over 125 years ago. Learn to do all three, and you will find success in America’s Pastime. The same is true for the fundamentals of business. Business today, with all the applications, information mediums, and technological advancements, is meaningless without the fundamental ingredient of relationships. Relationships are a key ingredient in creating a successful and gratifying career in anything you do. People truly like working with whom they have a good relationship. No one wants to work with someone that they don’t trust. The beginning point of R Stanfield Consulting is no different.
Almost thirty years ago, my dad moved us down to Florida from Chicago, Illinois. He was a successful general agent for an insurance company. After a two week visit and agency meeting in South Florida, he decided to move down here. So we packed up everything and moved down. After settling in our family got involved into sports. With favorable weather year round, there is no off season. My dad helped a local agency for a period of time and tried to establish himself in a new area and coach Little League Baseball. After a season or two he was regularly seen at team and league meetings throughout the year. Relationships formed among the coaches and league officials. People began to ask him for help. Not in the insurance field, but in business in general. With a vast knowledge of working with other business owners over the 20 years prior to the move south, he was consulting with others on solutions to overcome their obstacles. Years later we are still able to help our community based of relationships that formed twenty eight years ago.
Today we are both Intuit Pro-advisors and Resellers in the Southwest Florida region. We help businesses and individuals find solutions to problems they incur and adapt to the ever changing small business world. We continually develop relationships with the people in the area and continue to encourage people to make each other better.
Relationships are as fundamental in our business, as hitting, catching and throwing are in baseball. Batter up!
