Members of the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee received recommendations on a number of legislative proposals courtesy of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The "2023 Compendium of Tax Legislative Proposals – Simplification and Technical Proposals" outline AICPA’s positions directly related to changes to the tax rules and can be readily addressed.
The compendium, which includes items focused on improving tax administration, makes the tax code fairer and effectively promotes important policy objectives. The proposals correct technical problems in the Internal Revenue Code or simplify existing provisions.
Of the 61 recommendations, there were proposals related to areas such as employee benefits, individual income tax, international tax and tax administration. There also were specific proposals that addressed significant issues affecting businesses, taxpayers and their accounting representatives.
