Midwest Xero Ambassador Ryan Watson's reputation proceeds him. As co-founder and principal of Upsourced Accounting, his passion for technology, and deep experience in the areas of finance and accounting are helping him deliver the Xero vision to the accounting community.
With a home base in Cincinnati, his cloud-based accounting firm has been on the Xero platform since it was available in the U.S. market. “What started as convenience became a passion for Xero and the culture of building a practice around the platform," Ryan says. "I love the platform, and I want to be an evangelist for it.”
Starting his firm in 2012, the former CPA at Deloitte has become a decorated accounting thought leader. Today, Upsourced Accounting, which specializes in SaaS-based start-ups and digital agencies, services more than 100 clients and is a "Xero Gold Partner."
An enterprising entrepreneur, he and his partners created Sqrl, a tool used to automate document collection for accounting firms. Used by large and small firms alike, it’s earned Ryan a number of accolades, including Ernst & Young’s "Entrepreneur of the Year EDGE Award."
“I’m passionate about what the future of the industry looks like," Ryan says, "especially with AI and machine learning moving increasingly to the forefront of accounting technology. I want to be a participant and a leader in this exciting time for accountants and the profession.
As for being a Xero Ambassador? "I think Xero and the ecosystem surrounding is a huge piece of what the firm of the future will look like.”
