Insightful Accountant has previously advised our readers of changes on their way to the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program, especially certification related training and examinations. Intuit has announced that several changes will begin being implemented during November.
Improved contextual and scenario based training to prepare you for the QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification
Intuit is upgrading the self-paced learning experience for QuickBooks ProAdvisor to help prepare them for the QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification with contextual and scenario-based learning. The path to get Advanced Certified still requires passing QuickBooks Online (core) Certification, but now both certifications share a similar experience for better learning.
Intuit will continue to offer preparation training in other formats as well, including instructor-led, in-person events and virtual conference style boot camps. All of the training options will offer CPE credits.
For the latest information and training options be certain to explore the ProAdvisor Training tab in QuickBooks Online Accountant or check out training options at Intuit's Accountant University.
Simplified recertification process for QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification - no more ACE credits
Earlier this year Intuit removed the requirement to acquire ACE (advanced continuing education) credits and simplified the process needed to recertify in order to keep your certification status current.
Moving forward, QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified ProAdvisors will complete a shorter recertification exam each year focused on what has changed in QuickBooks Online since the prior exam. The bonus is that you recertify at your highest level of certification. This means that Advanced Certified ProAdvisors will NOT need to pass BOTH the QuickBooks Online recertification exam and the QuickBooks Online Advanced recertification, you'll only have to pass the QuickBooks Online Advanced recertification to maintain both your QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Advanced certifications.
An optional "what’s new" training will be available to QuickBooks Online Advanced ProAdvisors to help prepare them to take the QuickBooks Online Advanced recertification exam.
Common annual recertification date of July 31
The new QuickBooks Online Advanced recertification exam will be available in March (2019) and will have a completion deadline of July 31, 2019. This common renewal date makes it simpler for all QuickBooks Online Advanced ProAdvisors to remember their recertification date and plan accordingly.
All current QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified ProAdvisors must complete, and successfully pass, the recertification exam by July 31, 2019 in order to maintain their QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification status after that date.
