I received an award for running my mouth! You gotta love that someone finally saw it as a positive quality instead the usual problem child. Seriously, though, it was a big honor that I almost missed. Why, you ask? Because I was running my mouth of course. I’m not entirely
sure why the NAN (now known as Woodard Network) Powers That Be, bestowed this upon me but I can take an educated guess.
Seven years ago, Joe started Scaling New Heights and even though I LOVED attending conferences (I actually coordinated them for the Early Childhood Educators in South Florida for several years), it was happening the same weekend my daughter graduated from high school. Unfortunately, there was not a chance I was going to be able to go. But the following year, I was able to attend 2 of the 3 days at Stone Mountain. I was HOOKED! Here was this group of individuals that instead of falling asleep while having a conversation actually looked interested and not only interested but they were interacting with me and telling me the details of their businesses. It was fabulous. I came back full of energy, renewed enthusiasm and missing terribly all of my new friends.
It can be isolating when you work for yourself which is just fine with me most of the time. But what do you do when you come across an issue you can’t resolve? Who do you turn to when you have an amazing idea? What happens when the phone rings, the doorbell is pealing, the dogs are barking and the client has delivered a corrupt file? I found myself wanting and needing others who understood what I was facing. So it was a natural fit for me to join NAN in the beginning. Membership in this group has helped me belong to the community. It has supported me when I was stumped and needed answers. It’s provided a forum for me to continue those amazing conversations that I have with like-minded professionals at the conference. It’s helped me grow and learn as both an individual and professional. Last but not least, NAN has been and continues to be an organization that I can be proud of to be a part.
I’m a pretty direct individual and I’m not usually prone to sugary coatings so for me to sing praises, it’s gotta be good and this group is Great! Thank you for allowing me the honor of not only being a Member and Chapter Leader but also an avid and vociferous Advocate of the Woodard Groups.
