Here’s a recap of 2024’s top enhancements in QuickBooks Online and its connected services:

Now there’s no need to move complex clients to expensive ERPs

Intuit Enterprise Suite, powered by QuickBooks and Mailchimp is a holistic online solution for seamless multi-entity reporting and accounting. Adding efficiency for your firm and clients means you can provide more value in less time to reclaim time for advisory services and grow your business.

  1. Updated bank feeds experience (QuickBooks Online): Use time more wisely by customizing the Bank transactions list columns for each client you serve. Categorize, match, add payees, and correct transactions with far fewer clicks using more information and functionality now available to you right in the Bank transactions tab.
  2. Batch reclassify transactions (QuickBooks Online): You and your clients can get more done in fewer steps by editing an entire batch of one type of bank transaction such as expenses or deposits. You can also edit more elements of these transactions, including accounts, payees, classes, and locations.
  3. Intuit Assist for QuickBooks (QuickBooks Online): Automate more of your AR/AP processes by using handwritten notes or other files to auto-populate invoices and estimates. Help clients get paid faster by automating reminders to customers about high-ROI overdue invoices. Spend less time matching partial payments, overpayments, fees, and batch deposits using Intuit Assist’s capabilities to detect these payment types. For visibility and confidence, you’ll also get more context on why Assist suggested a transaction categorization in the bank feed.
  4. Document sharing through Workforce profiles (QuickBooks Online Payroll): Help simplify HR processes and help secure private info by uploading and sharing documents to employees’ individual Workforce profiles.
  5. Projects and Tasks functionality (QuickBooks Online Accountant): Work the way you want by organizing tasks, projects, and deadlines in the Manage work tab. You’ll find more project and task management capabilities, a refreshed spreadsheet layout, and more options to sort and filter–just the start of several key updates to come.

  1. Role-based access to clients’ books (QuickBooks Online Accountant): Keep the right data and functionality in the right hands by assigning your firm’s team members their own role-based access and permissions to your clients’ books. Separate duties and delegate tasks across QuickBooks to manage AP/AR, payroll, and other services with confidence.
  2. Assign more tasks to custom roles (QuickBooks Online Advanced): Delegate more tasks with confidence by customizing granular access to fit each team member’s day-to-day tasks, including more types of transactions, more specific access to task areas, and more actions.
  3. Paycheck corrections (QuickBooks Online Payroll): Have more confidence running payroll when you can correct paychecks after processing. You and your clients can now record payroll after employees have been paid, or void a check and recreate it with updates—even if the tax payment will be past due.
  4. Multiple-approver workflows (QuickBooks Online Advanced): Get more flexibility and control in Accounts Payable by including multiple sequential approvers for invoices and expenses that meet a client’s particular conditions.

Deeper analysis of financial data can lead to many benefits for firms and clients, including strategic planning and more robust profitability.

  1. Enhanced payroll cost allocations (QuickBooks Online Payroll): Get in-depth Profit & Loss (P&L) insights by class, project, or customer and accurately reflect total labor costs by tracking payroll costs by customer, project, or class. You can also split wages by multiple classes or projects within the same pay period.
  2. Forecasting (QuickBooks Online Advanced): Get clear financial insights on the future by creating a P&L forecast of up to 3 years, right in QuickBooks. Forecasts built in QuickBooks use your latest data, so you can avoid the mess of outside solutions and the risk of errors from manual entry.
  3. Modern view reports (QuickBooks Online): Track your client’s business performance in more ways with a more user-friendly reporting interface and additional functionality to sort, filter, and group data. Choose from more data fields and apply advanced filters, data pivots, and charts consistently across reports without having to export to spreadsheets.
  4. KPI insights for clients’ businesses (QuickBooks Online): Choose from new widgets to track your client’s business performance in the homepage or Business overview, including Mileage, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
  5. Product recommendations for your clients (QuickBooks Online Accountant): Boost clients’ efficiency by recommending products curated based on potential cost savings, using insights from hundreds of data points across millions of businesses.** At a glance, the Product recommendations tab shows the features and benefits of each suggested product so you can compare solutions while preparing proposals for your clients.

Accountants’ feedback has once again led to a number of improvements in QuickBooks products this year, including over 100 that were originally submitted during our Accountants’ DelightJams: 2-week sprints where QuickBooks invites accountants to bring ideas into action and help improve the QuickBooks experience. A few examples include the following:

  2. Widely xpanding customization of role-based access to client data in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
  3. Greater visibility on status of invitations to collaborate on QuickBooks.
