This article is one in a series of 'help guides' for 2025 ProAdvisor Award applicants. This article deals exclusively with requirements for the U.S. ProAdvisor Awards Only. A similar article related to the 2025 International ProAdvisor Awards will be published on Thursday.
Since the beginning of the ProAdvisor Awards, applicants have always had two fundamental requirements: 'Active Client Practice' and 'Current ProAdvisor Certification.'
Active Client Practice
Historically, to be considered for the ProAdvisor Awards, an applicant must be an active QuickBooks ProAdvisor® and have an active QuickBooks® practice involving one (1) or more clients using QuickBooks Online or Desktop. This provision has always required the ProAdvisor to contact the client directly. Nothing has changed regarding this provision for 2025.
But, Insightful Accountant established a new alternative provision for 2025. Applicants must still be an active QuickBooks ProAdvisor; however, an applicant can now work as a member of an accounting, bookkeeping, or consulting practice and be responsible for maintaining the accounting records of one (1) or more clients of the firm using QuickBooks Ledger.
This new provision recognizes a change in how many QuickBooks ProAdvisors are working, how firms are changing, and new tools, like QuickBooks Ledger, designed to meet these changing dynamics. As a result, we anticipate a significantly higher number of participating ProAdvisors for 2025.
This change is reflected in Question 31 at the top of Page 5 of the U.S. ProAdvisor Application form for 2025 (as shown below).

Current ProAdvisor Certification
U.S. ProAdvisor Award applicants must possess at least one of three different 'current' QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certifications. They must also be able to 'document' such certification(s).
Insightful Accountant recognizes QuickBooks Online (Core) ProAdvisor Certification, QuickBooks Online Advanced ProAdvisor Certification, and QuickBooks Desktop ProAdvisor Certification. Intuit QuickBooks U.S. must have issued all such certifications; certifications from other Intuit Regions or Countries will not be accepted from U.S. Award applicants for 2025.
For these awards*, Insightful Accountant defines what' current' means for each 'award' year. For 2025, any of the three certifications must have been 'earned' or 'renewed (through re-certification) since November 1, 2023. You will enter your most current date of certification in Question 32.
Question 33 requires you to upload a PDF of your most recent certification as part of your application to document your current certification. Instructions for this process are included in the lower portion of Page 5 of the formal application (as shown below).
