It has become obvious, both from last week's unscheduled letter to multiple ProAdvisors about 'Your Badge(s)' and the new ProAdvisor Academy being within the Intuit Accountant University that changes are impacting the procedure whereby ProAdvisors have access to their current and historical Certificates so they can download them, and then upload them into their 2025 ProAdvisor Award Application if they are U.S. candidates.
Because certificate upload is a mandatory step in the certification verification process, we have already instituted a new methodology for you to upload a certification verification in lieu of the actual certificate(s) which are in the process of being changed in design.
As mentioned in my article of October 17, "Did You Get a 'Your Badge(s) Email?" Intuit has apparently contracted with Credly to issue badges and certificates. Apparently some ProAdvisors were erroneously issued such new badges and certificates last week while a test was being conducted.
The new certificates that replace your prior issued official certificate look nothing like the prior documents. With the removal of ProAdvisor related trappings of the past from QuickBooks Online Accountant, we understand that some of you are concerned about no longer being able to access your last (and prior) certifications.
But as I wrote earlier in this article, we have found an acceptable alternative for you to document your certification(s).
1) Head over to the new ProAdvisor University website at: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/proadvisor-academy/
2) Click the Green 'Start Learning' button on that QuickBooks ProAdvisor page where it says "ProAdvisor Academy, Take your accounting skills to the next level."
3) You should be taken to an Intuit login-window, you may need to enter your User ID, or it may default to your User ID. You need to ensure that the User ID is the one associated with your ProAdvisor membership (free or paid).
4) Enter either your Password, or the Text a code option.
5) If you haven't logged into your Intuit account in awhile, you may still have to confirm with the Text a code option even if you enter your password.
6) You should be able to make your way to the new ProAdvisor Academy page (example shown below).
New ProAdvisor website
In my "QB Monday Minute" article yesterday, I wrote about the 'My Hub", the 'Certifications' and the 'Learn' tabs of this new site. Today's article is about the "My History" tab.
7) From the 'My Hub' (main) page, click the "My History" tab at the top of the page.
The "My History" tab shows your 'Completed Certifications' (represented by the new badges) as seen in the page example below. The order from left to right will be the 'oldest certification' (Intuit still values as 'current' based on their 3 year rule) to the newest such certification on the right. If you have more than 3 such certifications they will be displayed in subsequent rows.
If you have completed courses and CPE credits, not encumbered by their inclusion in a Certification, they will be shown below the Certifications.
Let's look how to garner a document that will substitute for a Certificate.
8) Go ahead and select your most current certification required for the ProAdvisor Awards. Based on the certifications displayed in the example above, I would select the QuickBooks Online Certification Level 1 certification. To actually select the certification click on the little download symbol at the bottom right of each certification. A window like the one below will be displayed.
9) Go ahead and either 'Print Screen' this page, or use a tool like 'Snip-it' or 'Snag-it' to capture a copy of the page just like it is shown above. It must have your Name as appears in the upper left hand corner "This badge was issued to XYZ on Date (Month, Day, Year)" and show the new Badge and related information.
10) Save the page as a PDF, JPG, PNG or GIF format with Your Name and Badge Type as the file name. I suggest you save it to your computer's desktop for ease of location.
11) Upload this saved certificate as part of your application when you get to the Certification Verification question (requirement). You will meet the requirement just fine providing this substitute.
12) If you still have difficulties, reach out to me at the email listed on Page 1 of the formal application.
By the way, if the ProAdvisor Program and Credly get around to issuing the new Official Certificates, you can send us that as well... we just need your Name, Certificate type, and Certificate date, no matter how ugly they look.
