Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 15, will be the start of the formal application process for this year's search for the Top 100 ProAdvisors, Up-n-coming ProAdvisors, ProAdvisor Categorical Award winners and the ProAdvisor of the Year.
Qualified nominees already will have been notified or begun receiving notification of their eligibility to continue in this year's process.
Some nominees may have received a request for additional information before they can continue. Those requests should be responded to with the necessary information as quickly as possible to give the nominee as much time needed to complete their application form once they are cleared to proceed.
But the real purpose of this article is to make you aware of another Big Change in this year's formal application because I know a lot of you go headstrong into the form without taking time to read the actual introductory information or instructions.
Not only did Insightful Accountant completely revise the entire formal application and eliminate the short form for past Top 100 award winners, but we made a major change in how the application itself is accessible.
We realize there are a lot of detailed information requests in our application form. And while we've given you glimpses of the various sections, that may be insufficient to allow you to know exactly what information you need when filling out the various sections of the form.
So, for the first time, the new form will allow you to enter your basic information on Page 1, and then "Save" your application form so you can return to it at a later time.
In fact, you can Save your application form after completing any page once you have completed the first page.
Say you have completed Page 1: Your Contact Information; Page 2: Tell us about Yourself and Your Practice; and Page 3: What Type of ProAdvisor are You (Online, Desktop or Both). When you get to Page 4: Tell us about Your 2022 Training, you realize you must gather more information to answer some of those specific questions.
You can now "Save" your application (you will see an option in the upper right hand corner of each page) and the information from Pages 1, 2 and 3 will be saved and you can begin right back at Page 4 with your training when you return to YOUR Application form.
Note: If you partially finish Page 4, you may get returned to Page 5. In that case, click "Previous" at the bottom of Page 5 to be returned to Page 4 once you are back into the application form.
When you "Save" your application, you will receive an email with a unique button link that takes you back to your application. Only you can access your application via the link—and the link only works with your application form.
Personally, I think this is a pretty great addition to this year's application process, and we hope you will, too.
One other note about the 'Save' function... if you don't find the email from garydehart@insightfulaccountant.com in your Inbox, be certain to look in your junk, spam or threat (etc.) folders. Your email or anti-virus program might detect the 'unique link' as a potential threat. This happened during some of our testing, but it is an individual computer thing, not a setting at our end.
By the way, you can "Save" your application form as many times as needed prior to final completion and return each time. But once you have finally completed your form, you will not be able to return to it.
Just as you cannot advance from page to page without completing all your required questions, you cannot complete and submit your form if it is incomplete. So there is no way to submit an incomplete form, you can only "Save and Return" to an incomplete form.
Also this year, once you finally complete your form and submit it, you will receive an email giving notice we are in receipt of your submitted Formal Application. That way, you have a record of the fact you submitted your final form.
Formal applications close at 11:59:59 p.m. (PST), April 26, 2023, so you will have plenty of time to get your information together and your details straight in this year's new formal application.
