Insightful Accountant’s Top 100 ProAdvisor award program recognizes the best of the best of ProAdvisors in many categories. However, many newer ProAdvisors reportedly find it almost impossible to qualify for the list and therefore do not even try.
With this in mind, we are proud to announce we have listened to your feedback and will be expanding the Top 100 ProAdvisor awards program to include a separate list of Top Up-n-Coming ProAdvisors.
Carving out the Up-n-Coming ProAdvisors into this new list addresses many of the key points of feedback we have received over the years. In addition, it delivers the opportunity to expand the awards program to accommodate the two new awards announced earlier this year while we recognize more of the Up-n-Coming ProAdvisors who otherwise might not enter the awards program.
What does this mean for 2023?
Insightful Accountant will no longer include up-n-comers within the Top 100 ProAdvisors. Instead, starting this year, we will recognize Up-n-Coming ProAdvisors in a list of their own, along with a Top Up-n-Coming ProAdvisor.
While the process for this list will use the same nomination form and application procedures, Insightful Accountant’s new application screening tool will allow for up-n-comers to be ranked apart from the remaining applicants based upon a new simplified set of criteria.
- Screening criteria for years of ProAdvisor experience have been revised. As a result, ProAdvisors with far fewer years of experience now are eligible for the new list.
- While we encourage every ProAdvisor to participate in the client review rating process, the new criteria do not require a minimum number of client reviews or ratings to qualify.
- Even though the value of conference training cannot be doubted, COVID and economic conditions precluded many ProAdvisors from attending such events, especially up-n-comers. As such, the major conference requirement has been eliminated from the qualifying criteria.
- Similarly, QuickBooks-related professional group or organization membership is no longer a screening requirement.
- Insightful Accountant will, however, continue to require current certification in either QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Advanced or QuickBooks Desktop (at the time of application) to qualify for the Up-n-Coming ProAdvisor awards.
The remaining application questions and process will be used to score and rank applicants based on the other ProAdvisor point-based factors used for assessment.
For 2023, the Up-n-Coming list size will be determined based on the overall number of eligible nominees, qualified applicants and final scoring factors. The list will consist of no less than 10 ProAdvisors, and no more than 25 ProAdvisors.
The Top Up-n-Coming ProAdvisor list will be issued simultaneously with the 2023 Top 100 ProAdvisor list. In addition, the Top Up-n-Coming ProAdvisor award winner will be announced at the same time as the 2023 ProAdvisor of the Year and categorical award winners during the Scaling New Heights Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
Let me review and address some of your potential questions before you ask them:
Question: “If I only have three or four years of experience as a ProAdvisor, and am currently certified in QuickBooks Online, am I eligible for consideration for this new list?”
Answer: “Yes, we have opened the door to ProAdvisors with far less experience as a qualifying factor just as long as they have at least one current ProAdvisor certification.”
Question: “While I am not required to accept client reviews to qualify for this new list, will a ProAdvisor who accepts client reviews have an advantage over one who doesn’t?”
Answer: “Client review ratings are not required; however, those ratings will continue to be part of the overall scoring process. So, a ProAdvisor with 5 Stars earned from even a few client reviews will rank higher in that one area than a ProAdvisor who has no stars or client reviews.”
Question: “I’ve only been a ProAdvisor for two years, but I attended a conference this past year and earned several training hours. Will those hours still count toward my overall standing on this new list?
Answer: “Absolutely. We don’t require you to attend a conference, but if you attend one and earn QuickBooks-related training, you will receive credit for that training toward an up-n-comer ranking when you complete your full application.”
To accomplish this change, Insightful Accountant will extend the 2023 Nomination period from Feb. 15, 2023, until March 1, 2023, at 11:59:59 p.m. (PST). That’s an extra two weeks to give all up-n-coming ProAdvisors the opportunity to nominate themselves or a fellow up-n-coming ProAdvisor using this official Nomination Form website.
Stay tuned for future announcements regarding the remaining timeline for this year’s awards process.
