For the last few weeks, we have examined various ProAdvisor Certifications Insightful Accountant recognizes as the minimum certification requirement for domestic applicants for the Top 100 Awards Process, including QuickBooks Online Certification, QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification and QuickBooks Desktop Certification.
We have also been covering various other Intuit ProAdvisor Certifications including, QuickBooks Online Payroll Certification, QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Certification and QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 Certification, which Insightful Accountant ranks for points as part of the Top 100 Awards process.
Insightful Accountant awards points for all the above mentioned certifications on both a current and historical basis if an applicant has reported a current certification for any of the recognized Intuit US ProAdvisor Certifications meeting the minimum requirement.
Please remember that Intuit's QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program administers all QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certifications. Those certifications may be subject to change by Intuit any time between now and the 2024 official Top 100 application form.
Because Intuit has announced the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale software as of Oct. 3, 2023, it seems likely that Intuit will drop QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 Certification from its official certification offerings sometime after Oct. 3, 2023.
However, Insightful Accountant has no official confirmation of such at the time of publication of this article.
QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 ProAdvisor Certification
Many ProAdvisors began supporting QuickBooks Point-of-Sale when product-related training became available. Soon after, Intuit began offering ProAdvisor Certification for QuickBooks Point-of-Sale and made free copies to ProAdvisors who gained certification.
To increase the number of ProAdvisors supporting Point-of-Sale, Intuit began including a free license in the paid QuickBooks ProAdvisor software bundle. But when Intuit announced it would offer a cloud-based POS, many ProAdvisors could see the writing on the wall and stopped supporting QuickBooks Desktop POS.
Even after the cloud-based POS offered by Intuit was subsequently terminated, many ProAdvisors started looking for alternative Point-of-Sale offerings they could offer their clients that provided some manner of integration with either QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online.
Intuit continued investing in Point-of-Sale, resulting in some platform and feature enhancements. Still, it chose not to integrate QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale with QuickBooks Online.
The last significant revisions and enhancements to QuickBooks Point-of-Sale resulted in version 19 of the software. Intuit released an updated ProAdvisor Certification based on that product, but has not updated the training or exam since then.
Accordingly, the preparation materials for the current QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale ProAdvisor Certification are based on version 19. Intuit specifies that the certification course will provide everything a course participant needs to run a store and integrate QBPOS with QuickBooks (Desktop) software.
QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale Certification Training currently consists of 45 minutes of Introduction to QBPOS 19.0; 1 hour of instruction on how to install and set up QBPOS 19.0; 2 hours of training on Inventory set-up, purchasing, and receiving; and 1 hour of Daily Operations including sales and returns, customers and end-of-day procedures.
An additional 2 hours of instruction covers the integration of QBPOS with QuickBooks Desktop software, 30 minutes of instruction on QBPOS 19.0 Reporting capabilities, and 2 hours of training on managing QBPOS 19.0 in a Multi-store environment.

The seven modules of QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-sale ProAdvisor Certification training represent 8.5 hours of eligible training credits for the Top 100 2024 Awards process.
Once individuals have completed the QBPOS Certification preparation training, they become eligible to take the QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale 19.0 certification examination.
You will still be able to earn training and certification points for the 2024 Top 100 Awards process, even if Intuit discontinues the QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale ProAdvisor Certification on, after or prior to Oct. 3, 2023, if you earned certification any time during 2023. —Murph

Insightful Accountant also awards points as part of the Top 100 Awards process for QuickBooks Point-of-Sale ProAdvisor certifications on a historical basis. This is for applicants who have reported a current certification for any of the recognized Intuit US ProAdvisor Certifications meeting the minimum requirement and the most recent accreditation in QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale.
Even though it is likely Intuit will drop QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale 19.0 Certification from its official ProAdvisor certification offerings sometime after the discontinuation date of QuickBooks Desktop Point-of-Sale on Oct. 3, 2023, Insightful Accountant will recognize ProAdvisors holding that certification any time during 2023.
Those ProAdvisors will receive credit for current and historical certifications related to QuickBooks Point-of-Sale as part of the 2024 Top 100 process.
Beyond that, Insightful Accountant reserves the right to withdraw the awarding of points related to QuickBooks Point-of-Sale certification for Top 100 ProAdvisor Awards for any period beyond the 2024 Awards process.
