This week, our International Top ProAdvisor profile focuses on Lauren du Plooy of Rae & Associates of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
Rae & Associates over the last 20 years has risen to a firm we are so proud of. We are a family run firm who bring that love and passion to our clients companies. We focus on owner managed businesses who are looking for a strategic partner in their Business. We are tech crazy and love our app stack and how it saves us so much time with automation. We have a migration & training department, as well as accounting and bookkeeping services. We are QuickBooks ambassadors in South Africa and love working with other accounting firms on their digital journeys.
Insightful Accountant asked, "how does the ProAdvisor Award fit into your firm's mission?", to which Lauren replied:
It is testament to how passionate we are about what we do and how hard we work. We took time over the last year to really focus on what our values are, what are goals are over the next 12 months and this is one step closer to what we have set out for ourselves. We have grown our team this year and our focus has slightly shifted to Strategic growth partners and this award fits in so perfectly with our mission - We want to be out there, loud and proud of what we do.
We also asked Lauren if she had "been able to leverage her ProAdvisor Award to promote her firm?", she responded:
Being a QuickBooks ambassador is a very fulfilling role for us and we love working on the ground with businesses and accountants striving to make changes in the industry in South Africa, this award proves that our actions match our words. I'm really proud of what we have achieved as a team, I would not be able to do what I do if I didn't have the incredible support of our Rae team. Being able to show this award means that our clients can trust that we are actively working in this space and striving for greatness. We love what we do and this for us is a great way to promote that.
Is there anything you would like to share about your 'home life'?:
Someone once told me that they cannot believe I am in the accounting industry because of how colourful I am and I think that is a great explanation (I don't know why people think all accountants are grey and boring) I devour books at an alarming rate so my kindle is my best friend. I have a crazy, loud and fun family, thank goodness we all like each other as we work together every day. I love being a mom to a firecracker 14yr old daughter. I'm obsessed with animals so have a mini zoo at home and have a sort of Dr Dolittle vibe going on around me. I love entertaining and cooking for people and sharing my home.
