Expecting as many as 155-million individual returns to be filed for tax year 2017, the Internal Revenue Services has announced that they will begin accepting returns for the 2018 'tax season' on January 29, 2018. This is the earliest date upon which the IRS will accept 2017 returns.
This year's starting date is almost one-week later than last year, in part due to the changes that will need to be put in place to comply with the recently enacted Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.
This tax season's filing deadline for individual returns will be on Tuesday April 17, 2018 due to the fact that April 15 is a Sunday and Monday April 16 is a legal holiday.
