What’s in a Name?
Everything, as it turns out.
We recently picked up a business card from an accountant that really caught our attention. While most people stick with a conventional title, i.e. CPA, accountant, etc., this individual opted to think a little more critically about not only his personal branding, but also his profession.
Rather than going with the conventional title, his business card says “Business Grower.” Think about that for a moment. Rather than using the same language as countless other CPAs, this individual used something different, eye catching to brand himself. Beyond that though, his title speaks directly to the heart of the profession. As CPAs, we work with businesses to help them grow and prosper. Rather than letting his clients and potential clients assume that’s what he does, he instead tells them upfront: he is a business grower.
Think about your own personal branding. What does it say about you? While you don’t have to be too over the top about it, a little bit of differentiation goes a long way.
How could you capitalize on this idea? Think about it and the next time your stack of business cards starts running low, maybe you can be more than “just” a CPA.
