In 2021 Intuit announced the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop for UK customers. Support for UK customers with Intuit's Desktop software just ended on June 30, 2023.
As a part of the sunset of QuickBooks Desktop UK, Intuit offered customers the option of migrating historical data to the QuickBooks Online UK version.
Not only was Intuit aiming to keep QuickBooks users up to date and compliant with the ever-increasing number of accounting and tax regulation changes, but it wanted to enable accounting professions to grow and scale their practices with an online platform providing enhanced connectivity to tools and services.
To simplify migration from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, Intuit is offering a self-service tool from MovemybooksTM, which converts and transfers QBD data to QBO. The tool allows users to migrate up to two years of historical financial data from desktop format into online format.
While most QuickBooks Desktop users switched prior to the June 30 sunset, others still are using the Desktop software under their perpetual license which still works normally, but offers no support or connected services.
Even though June 30 has come and gone, it is not too late for UK users to convert from QB Desktop to QB Online. Intuit will continue to pay for migrating the current and previous fiscal year desktop data to QBO using MovemybooksTM through July 31, 2023.
For more information, QuickBooks Desktop UK customers should head over to the special “Migrate QB Desktop to QB Online” MovemybooksTM website.
