Last fall I wrote an article about the closer ‘integration’ of TSheets within QuickBooks Online, which had been announced at Intuit’s QuickBooks Connect. While a working "Beta" model of the integration was available at that time, the feature only went full blown in April.
The seamless integration, where TSheets' time tracking and reporting functionality is directly accessible inside of QuickBooks Online, enhances the collaboration between the two products, allowing small businesses to streamline their invoicing and payroll processes.
TSheets Tip in QBO
It’s easy to get started using TSheets within QBO. Just click on the Tip on the home page (shown above in the red box). Oops, I think I'm supposed to call it the "Dashboard" now, not the Home Page (my bad).
Now I was taken to the app sign up (as shown below), where I had the option to either enroll in TSheets for a free trial or connect my existing T-Sheet Account.
TSheets Sign-up or Log-in
Since I'm already a TSheets customer, all I had to do was enter my TSheets credentials and I was ready to go in just a few seconds, with a couple of quick easy to answer questions.
Remember, I started out already logged in to QBO, so QuickBooks assumes I want to connect with the TSheets server and the OAuth process is completed via my log-in to TSheets.
TSheets and QBO Ready to Go
In my case, I selected the option to "Return to Dashboard" at the bottom of the above graphic. When I returned to my QBO Dashboard, I found that a new “Approve Time” option is available under the Employees Menu within the Create Drop Down (as shown below).
TSheets Approve Time Menu Item (Link)
With TSheets now available directly in QBO, managing time has never been easier in QuickBooks. Just click on the new link and QBO takes you straight into your Approve Time integration with TSheets.
TSheets Approve Time in QBO
It's super easy to review, manage and approve my TSheets time-sheets. Changes automatically sync with my TSheets account, so the data always is accurate.
Once I have reviewed and approved my time, I can choose to use the approved time for either payroll purposes or invoicing by making a selection in the bottom right of the window (shown to the right).
When I accept the time for payroll processing, I'm ready to run my payroll, because with that one-click I'm back to my QBO Dashboard. It's like moving on to the second song of a slow dance, of course, it's at "QBO Speed," not a 45 record.
Or, as I said, and will be more common in my case, I can select the option to accept my time, and then invoice my customers for those billable hours immediately after time approval.
With QBO and TSheets integration tracking billable time for customers, jobs, classes, service items and employees has never been easier.
So, if you're using QBO and TSheets, this new integration is definitely the way to go.
