Editor's note: Our new "Apps, Apps, Apps" features are not designed to be comprehensive product reviews. Rather, they're designed to give you a first look or overview of a relatively new app in the App Center that you may find of interest – either for yourself or one of your clients.
"Wow!!" That's all I can say about this new app that allows you to import Home Depot Expenses into QuickBooks Online. Previously, HammerZen offered software to migrate Home Depot data into QuickBooks Desktop.
But the "wow" for me is because I spend half my day traveling up and down the isles of Home Depot on my way to the check out kiosk so I can get my chores done. It's summertime, and yes, I have lots of chores to do. Okay, what, you don't think Murph does chores? I even do them for others.
If you're a Home Depot Pro or Pro Extra professional or contractor1, and you use QuickBooks Online, this app is for you, especially if you've been entering purchases from Home Depot manually, importing a bank download or using bank feeds, or using some other expense capture software for your Home Depot purchases.
With HammerZen HDPro, you'll get the information you need to classify your expenses for job tracking purposes. You'll be able to capture your details at the item level and save time by automating the tedious task of posting Home Depot-related expenditures into your accounting properly.
It's easy to get going with this app.
Step 1 – Sign up with HammerZen HDPro (a 30-day trial is available)

Step 5 – Follow the in-product instructions to map/create accounts, items and other tracking characteristics. With this app, you'll be able to assign each material you purchase at Home Depot as any Inventory Item, a Non-Inventory Item or Service you have configured in your QBO Company. You can easily record expenditures as billable or non-billable.

Step 6 – Select/customize additional tracking information you need for your job and construction record keeping. This feature allows you to "split" a single Home Depot transaction into multiple customers/job and classes. You can even apply sales tax to each material that you're recording as billable, even if you're tax exempt.

Step 7 – Now just finalize creation of a bill, check or credit card transaction in your QuickBooks Online.
While some people will say something like, "Why shouldn't I use a general expense import app," the reality is that many of those apps don't give you the level of detail and control that this app provides.
So, if you or your clients are addicted to Home Depot and use QBO, you'll definitely want to check out this app at their Intuit App Center page.
