Editor's Introductory Comments:
Many moons ago I wrote a first mini-series, and then a second mini-series on eCommerce, and specifically eCommerce and QuickBooks. In those articles, I addressed the various eCommerce platforms and the mechanisms whereby internet trade was headed. At the time, I mentioned several then-existent tools that were available for integrating shopping carts and eCommerce platforms with QuickBooks, but I also forecasted that such tools would be on the rise because internet trade was on the rise.
It seems like we have either done, or are working on several of these eCommerce integrators in our 'editorial calendar.' Not having been at Scaling New Heights, I don't know how many of these Apps (tools) were on the Exhibit Hall floor, but I am betting that a lot more of them will be present at QuickBooks Connect due to the fact that the vast majority of the Apps are being designed to work with QuickBooks Online (rather than QuickBooks Desktop).
If you are not already supporting eCommerce businesses in your ProAdvisor Practice, especially your QBO ProAdvisor Practice, you definitely should be considering doing so. As part of that, you may want to consider specializing in eCommerce 'Integration Apps.' Some have a singular focus of migrating data from a specific shopping cart to QBO, others are designed to work within a 'multi-channel eCommerce environment' (more than one eCommerce platform) and to work with other Apps as well like shipping, fulfillment software, and expediting, etc.
Now is a great time to get moving on expanding you practice in this area, best of luck if you choose to do so.

The DataQlick Apps Suite by DashboardStream Software focuses on automation of tedious workflow processes and simplification of data management between eCommerce platforms and accounting systems. It includes applications for integrating inventory and order management between a variety of eCommerce platforms and QuickBooks (or Xero). It also allows integration with shipping and order fulfillment software, as well as payment processors.
So, whether you use eBay, Amazon, Shopify or any other eCommerce platforms including WooCommerce, OpenCart, etc., DataQlick provides a solution to record your sales how you want them recorded, as well as manage your related inventory and purchasing transactions.
For purposes of our review we will focus on DataQlick’s integration with QuickBooks (Online) as appearing on their Intuit QuickBooks App Center landing page. DataQlick allows the seamless integration of eCommerce sales channels with QuickBooks Online and provides robust features that save time and money by automating your related bookkeeping and reducing manual data entry. DataQlick automatically tracks all connected sales channels. It syncs all orders, inventory, and customers from online stores and marketplaces, posting them directly into QuickBooks in real time. By properly recording not only your sales, inventory and purchasing transactions, but your shipping, discounts and sales taxes as well, DataQlick will put your mind at ease because you will know that your eCommerce accounting is up-to-date and accurate.
DataQlick even offers advanced inventory features that work with QuickBooks like assemblies, bundles, kits, bills-of-material, and work orders. Purchase order functionality including partial receiving and advanced payments will streamline your business with features that QuickBooks simply doesn’t provide.
The DataQlick Sync to Accounting App which was designed to work with QuickBooks Online and is called the PayPal to Accounting App by DataQlick in the Intuit App Center provides some unique features that you won’t find in other integration applications. But let’s slow down a little and look at how this App streamlines your life when you are using PayPal as your eCommerce platform and QuickBooks Online.
Sync to Accounting serve as your bridge between PayPal and QuickBooks Online to save you time by automated matching of your PayPal transfers and mapping of payments to Vendors and existing Bills or Expenses. In the illustration below of the App’s ‘Main View’ you can see that every PayPal transaction is broken down into Gross, Fee, Tax and Shipping. Users get to decide exactly what to record and how to record it by clicking on the ‘Submit’ button.

DataQlick is currently1 the only App in the Intuit QuickBooks App Center that allows seamless PayPal transaction processing with aggregated (batching of) transactions. Instead of hundreds or thousands of individual sales records, DataQlick will aggregate your transactions into 30 daily summarized transactions. (Batch mode features are shown in the illustration below.) Users simply choose to turn ‘Batch mode ON’ and then let the system do the work if aggregating their transactions.
