As a result of the changes to ChronoBooks Intuit has announced you may wonder what your alternatives are when it comes to a backup solution for QuickBooks Online if you are a Simple Start, Basic or Plus Subscriber, Murph outlines them for you here. So even though one of the features and 'sales points' of QuickBooks Online is that you never have to worry about backing-up your data because Intuit is continually backing-up QBO within their overall server-redundancy environment, the reality is that these safeguards are intended for Intuit's use, users have no control over those backups. There is no way for a user to restore their data from some past date to start moving forward using the data that Intuit maintains internally. Intuit's backup system is aimed at 'disaster recovery' not selective recovery.
But the following cloud based Apps are designed to provide back-up/data-security (redundancy) for QuickBooks Online in addition to providing mechanisms to restore data on a user-controlled and selective basis. These applications are listed in 'alphabetical order' without regard to any personal assessment of their performance. As a matter of convenience we have provided you with the 'current' ranking from the Intuit App Center Website for each of the Apps, along with the link to each site.
BackupCircle

SafetyNet
SafetyNet was originally developed by Jobber and won Intuit's QuickBooks Connect Hackathon in 2014 but Jobber phased out the product in 2016 due to a lack of interest. In 2017 Jungle Disk purchased the rights to SafetyNet and began updating it to the most current QuickBooks Online API.

Today, SafetyNet allows QBO Users to fetch all the data in each of their QuickBooks Online Account(s) and create backup(s) of them. Each time Users create a new SafetyNet Archive the App polls QuickBooks Online for all data objects accessible under the API and records them as an Archive. At any point in the future Users can restore their QuickBooks Online company to exactly as it did when any SafetyNet Archive was created.

With the Professional version of SafetyNet Users can keep as many Archives as they wish, allowing them to keep a complete history from any point in time. SafetyNet can be deployed for an unlimited number of QBO companies tied to an individual account which makes it ideal for accountants, ProAdvisors or businesses with multiple QBO firms.
