It's true, we do have some readers who are Xero users here at Insightful Accountant, and we have other readers who are always thinking about the possibility of using or supporting Xero in their practices too. So, we like to keep you aware of updates that impact our U.S. and 'Global' users as a whole, although we don't cover feature changes that are unique to other individual countries.
For U.S. users Xero has improved their Account Transactions reports so businesses can get a better overview of their accounts. These report now shows opening balance for profit and loss accounts, and have the option to show or include accounts with no transactions when they have a carry forward balance. Xero intends to roll-out this new report form globally in the coming months.

Xero has improved the look of ‘find and match’ screens in their iOS and Android Accounting Apps (Globally). In the list view, businesses can now see which transactions have a reconciled amount. When a transaction is selected, it will display the amount reconciled, as well as what’s remaining, making it easier to see transactions in context to the reconciled amount.
Another enhancement to the Xero Accounting App lets businesses reconcile a split transaction. To reconcile deposits and installment payments simply match the partial payment to a single transaction (like an invoice or bill) from the ‘find and match’ screen.
Going right along with that, iOS version of the Xero Accounting App in iOS has the ability to amend the amount when reconciling to reflect a partial payment, or allocate any amount to a single transaction. In addition, removing a partial payment only requires the user to select the transaction for removal and then choose the remove partial payment option.
Just as the above feature was currently only available for iOS App users, this one only applies to the Android version of the Xero Accounting App (for the present). Users can delete incorrect or outdated invoices
in ‘draft’ or ‘awaiting approval’ stages by selecting the invoice they want to delete, and then choosing delete in the overflow menu.
