Facebook is more than just sharing what you ate for dinner or pictures of your children. If used properly, ProAdvisors can leverage Facebook to dramatically increase their business.
The growth strategy I use for my business with Facebook groups allows me to effectively find the right clients. I'm excited to share my success with you, June 5, at "Scaling New Heights."
When my business hit a plateau in 2014, I had to make a change. To overcome this, I used Facebook to grow my revenue by more than double. I use my time efficiently by spending time moderating, contributing and sharing in Facebook groups. The tips I plan to share will help you create an audience on Facebook to attract the right clients.
Facebook is a powerful social media tool that many only utilize to share personal information with family and close friends. If that's the case for you, you're missing a huge opportunity to target a specific audience (your potential clients) and engage within a group.
When I first started using Facebook, I had a personal account and a second account for business. It became so confusing. I decided to merge these into one account and my friends list grew to 200.
In the beginning, I felt as though I was fumbling in trying to figure out how to make Facebook work for my business. One day I found a large Facebook group called ABBO (Accountants, Bookkeepers and Business Owners). I was so excited to find “my people.” I finally had a resource to ask questions when I had a problem I couldn’t figure out on my own.
I noticed that there were lots of QuickBooks product questions, so I asked the admin if I could be the resident QB product expert. They already had one for Xero, tax, profit first and other topics. In time, this role allowed me to show the members I could be a valuable resource in the group. It built my credibility and I am now considered the QB Expert in the group.
Facebook also allows me to have a way to connect with my friends from SNH throughout the year instead of just at the annual conferences. The relationships I have built with professionals in the industry are front of mind when projects come across my desk that is a niche of one of my connections. I now have built a network of collaborative referral partners that I can call on whenever I need support.
Over the years, I’ve learned Facebook etiquette by trial and error. I’ve also learned how to change my image on Facebook to be more positive which results in attracting positive Facebook friends. I also learned to not be afraid to add more Facebook friends, and how to vet them to friend the right clients. You never know who is a potential client but you can segment your friends into groups to market to them effectively. You have to connect with people and be willing to share.
Today my friends list is more than 1,200.
I would love to connect with you. To find me on Facebook, search “Carrie Hogan Kahn”. Also sign up for my SNH class, “Fundamentals on How to Grow Your Practice Using Facebook,” and we can meet in real life (IRL). Grab your coffee Monday morning and join us at 8 a.m.
My hope is that you will leave thinking of ideas of how to create your own Facebook groups to grow your business.
