Editor’s Note: Making her instructor debut at this year’s "Scaling New Heights®" conference in Orlando, Fla., June 4-7, Alicia Katz Pollock will present three QuickBooks Online sessions that will both educate and delight you. In her sessions, Alicia will help you face the Yeti (practice challenge) of Staying Current with Technology.
Although I’ve heard wonderful things about "Scaling New Heights" for years, this will be the first that my schedule has permitted me to attend. Imagine my excitement when I was asked to be one of the Sherpas, and share my knowledge and technical skills with SNH attendees.
I am delighted to help you face your Yetis and reach your summit.
I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching and have been a computer geek all my life. Instead of teaching English to seventh graders, I’ve spent the last three decades training adults in practical computing. I love efficiency and hate doing anything twice.
It has been my mission to teach business owners and staff to properly use software apps, freeing them up for more clients, business development…or personal time.
My three breakout sessions are all designed to further your comfort and power working inside QBO. A fan of hands-on, practical training, my goal is to help you use QBO in new and creative ways.
My first session, “The QuickBooks Online Mobile Apps in the Field,” focuses on using QBO on tablets and smartphones. We’ll look at native mobile app features that aren’t available through the browser, confronting the Yeti of being chained to your desk. If your clients make invoices in the field and bring them back to the office for processing, we’ll vanquish the Yeti of double data entry. We’ll also address the Yeti of time tracking, scheduling and taking payments in the field.
In the afternoon, we’ll make friends with the Yeti of merchant processing. My “QB Payments Merchant Processing, from Swipe to Automation” explores Intuit’s credit card processing. We’ll start with how to get the lowest rates for you and your client.
We’ll look at security and fraud prevention while swiping. And most importantly, you’ll see how to use QB Payments allows you to process recurring payments, speeding up A/R and eliminating hands-on invoicing. Because it’s built-in to your QBO, QB Payments’ automation features save you and your clients hours of time every year.
My favorite of the three sessions is, “Handling Tricky Transactions in QuickBooks Online.” As the Yetis pour out of the cave, you’ll sweep them to the side right and left as you learn how to process bounced checks, handle deposits and retainers, reconcile loans, fix negative deposits, track bartering and manage corporate credit cards.
While not specific to the QBO certification tests, we’ll conquer that Yeti, too, since the techniques you’ll learn in this 100 minutes will both deepen your understanding of QBO and teach you the specific workflows you need for typical business transactions.
All of these issues can be daunting challenges, but join me for 200 minutes of practical QuickBooks Online procedures, and I’ll guide you straight to the summit. I hope to see you there, and please introduce yourself.
You can find more details about each of the sessions in a downloadable document located here: Download Course Descriptions.
Reminder: As your ever-faithful Sherpas, we stand ready to guide and encourage you along your chosen path. If you would like to consult with us about your path, please email me at coliver@woodard.com or Liz at ecolley@woodard.com.
Be sure to tell us your goals and what you hope to learn so we can recommend appropriate paths for your upcoming learning experience at the "2017 Scaling New Heights®" conference.
