It isn't easy to say 'goodbye' but the time comes when we must and so it is with respect to one of our earliest contributors here at Insightful Accountant. Rob (Robert Evan) Shaff who wrote numerous tax related articles for us passed away recently and it is with a great sense of loss that I write this because he was also one of my long-time colleagues and a dear friend.
While there was a time in our lives that hardly a day went by when we were either not on the phone for extended periods or in conference working together, our business relationship changed over the past 30+ years and for many years now we only saw each other for an occasional lunch. But, to tell you the kind of guy Rob was, the last time I visited with him on the phone just a couple of months ago his first question was... "How is your health, Murph?", without so much of a hint that he himself was ill.
Rob was a 'selfless kind of guy' doing so much for so many. He leaves behind a legacy of family, employees, colleagues and friends, as well as numerous clients for whom he advocated.
He shall be missed, but not forgotten, for we will remember Him, so long as we hold Him in our memories and so too keep the words of wisdom he left us with.
