In the continual pursuit of business as usual in the aftermath of the recent pandemic, there have been myriad lessons learned. To see how some of the industry’s leading professionals handled the situation, we asked our Top 100 ProAdvisors to share some of their insights. Following is another in a series of our conversations with them. Here's The Bottom Line's Nancy D'Amato:
What has/have been the most impactful change(s) you have made in your firm over the last 18 months?
Actually delegating work to my subcontracted bookkeepers. As a solopreneur, I tend to feel I need to do it all (Oh, it's just a couple of quickie bank recs...). Even the easy stuff can and should be delegated so that I can work on and not in my business. I've always known this, it is putting it into action.
Also, since I have subcontracted bookkeepers, it was making sure my tech stack was completely up to snuff for them, me and my clients. Liscio and Karbon are fabulous for this.
How have these changes impacted your overall business?
It has freed up my time to work on bigger projects and to find solutions for clients where we have been limping along.
What were the most challenging aspects of implementing these changes and how did you overcome the challenges?
Getting everyone—me, my bookkeepers and my clients—on new software (Liscio) and using it correctly. Showing everyone the power it has to make things much easier for everyone. I also had to set aside my long held fall back of "the options have options."
While still true, at times, I used that as my out to do it the old way instead of the new much better way. Since I did not allow myself that option, everything is much smoother.
