Top Tax Efficiency Software
What’s going to save you the most time this tax season? We read all the reviews and tallied up the stars and here are the recommendations for your tax practice tech stack.
- TaxDome – TaxDome is checking all the practice management software boxes. Not only do we love the client app option where clients can securely upload pictures of their tax documents from their phone, but the software also serves as task management, can auto-send organizers, sorts documents and even syncs to tax software. Users can print tax returns directly to TaxDome and use it to collect signatures all in one location. The software also includes engagement letters and billing all in one location.
- CCH iFirm – While CCH’s tax product alone didn’t receive as many stars as its competitors, iFirm includes a client portal, billing and invoicing, document management, due date tracking, and workflow management for your time. When synced with CCH’s tax product you have all the makings of a paperless, efficient tax season.
- Proseries – This one is still a budget-friendly winner in our books. Proseries offers the Fastpath for e-filing for as low as around $400 plus the costs of returns. This tax prep software offers some of the best features at the lowest cost, especially for smaller practices, or firms that don’t file as many tax returns. If you’re looking for a product that integrates with more, check our Proconnect which syncs with QuickBooks as well as the new Proseries tax planning software.
- Expensify – Despite our best efforts, you will have disorganized clients. The ones that are always scrambling at the last minute and who “whoops, I forgot just one more receipt” can be the biggest time suck. Save yourself from touching their returns 39 times but introducing Expensify. Expensify is extremely cost-effective and makes it easy for clients to upload invoices, and receipts and track expenses regardless of their accounting software, or lack thereof. Which makes it easier for you at year-end to capture their information for schedules C and E.
- Calendly – Simplify your booking with Calendly. Especially during tax season when it seems like everyone wants a piece of you, cut down the time you spend in your inbox by utilizing a scheduling app. Calendly will sink your existing calendars and pick up on already booked spots versus what’s open. You can also block out times you don’t want calls as well as set it up to always leave 15-30 minutes between appointments.
Saving time this tax season will mean taking advantage of automation and technology boosts not just for tax prep, but all the administrative tasks that eat up your day too.
