Scaling New Heights
“Are you ready for a party, are you ready for a good time….all my rowdy friends are coming over tonight”, Hank Williams, Jr. sings something akin to that, and he use to sing a version for Monday Night Football as well. I don’t know about you, and if you're ‘rowdy’ or not, but we are just under 2 weeks from ‘a party and a good time’ at this year’s Scaling New Heights. You can be assured that it will be a good time of learning, achieving goals, and yes meeting new and seeing old friends; some of whom may seem a bit rowdy at times (or at least dynamic). Let’s look at a few of my favorite sessions:
First if you need to ‘add certifications’ under your belt, then slip into the QuickBooks Enterprise Certification Exam Preparation workshop on Sunday afternoon. By the time you are finished you should be ready to take the test and have another ‘ca-ching’ (you know, the sound a cash register makes) in points toward ProAdvisor of the Year for 2015.
Looking for a ‘breakfast partner’ on Monday morning, check out the Transaction Pro Importer breakfast presentation. I’m not sure they will be serving ‘made to order omelets’, but they will be whipping up your interest in a software utility that every ProAdvisor should have in their arsenal.
Monday afternoon offers four different ‘certification preparation’ tracks from Intuit including QBO, POS, Advanced ProAdvisor and ProAdvisor-2014. Here again you have some great preparatory training to earn any of those certifications you don’t have, and remember every certification affords valuable points toward Intuitive Accountant’s Top 100 ProAdvisor status for next year.
If you are already certified, and are considering taking your entire practice ‘to the cloud’ with QBO then you might want to attend the SOS Inventory Workshops since SOS bolsters the ability of retail, wholesale and light manufacturing companies to make use of QuickBooks Online.
If you planned to go the ‘Method route’ during this conference then Monday afternoon begins the core course on fundamentals as well as offering some additional workshops on other topical areas of interest to current ‘Methodologists.’
Monday night is National Advisor Network banquet night, this is your opportunity to see Joe in either his ‘tux’ or perhaps this year dressed-up as Davey Crockett since it will be held at the Alamo. (Don’t you see the natural resemblance between Joe and Fess Parker?) I wonder if Gary will dress-up as Jim Bowie? I think I will go as Sam Houston, he didn’t get killed at the Alamo. I mean Crockett is famous for coonskin caps (not many people wearing those lately), and Bowie, well his knives are still sought after today by avid hunters, but Houston, there is an entire metroplex named in his honor as well as professional sports teams.
If you thought I was going to give you my ‘picks’ for the entire Scaling New Heights party, in this one write-up you are wrong. You will just have to turn in tomorrow to see what’s on my list for Tuesday (and maybe even Wednesday).
So get yourself down to Scaling New Heights…..it’s ‘the place to be’ in two weeks……afterall, “all my rowdy friends are coming over to San Antonio” (don’t believe me, well what other name would you give to the Miami Heat…..).
