I have had a great week. I am truly blessed.
I had lunch with Joe Woodard and Jennifer Warawa (Sage North America) on Monday. On Tuesday I went to the Xero Road Show in Atlanta and learned more about their platform and their plans, and saw Jairam Padmanabhan from CCH Small Firm Services. If that was not enough, on Wednesday I took a short drive to Greenville, SC and met with Kae Williams and Steve Leavitt from Exact Online and heard about how important the QuickBooks ProAdvisor and accounting professionals are to their growth plans. Lastly, and certainly not least, I finished with lunch with my nephew who is a freshman in college!
Why am I sharing my day to day habits with you and how does what I shared make "it a great time to be an accounting professional"? Good question.
Our travel and meeting habits tell a little bit about what we are up to at Intuitive Accountant. I mentioned meetings with Sage and Xero, which really have not been part of our core editorial coverage historically. Moving forward we will be broadening our coverage to be more inclusive of all of the technologies available to you as a trusted business advisor. This does not mean we won't be giving you the most in depth coverage of the Intuit Ecosystem as we have been doing, it just means we'll be giving you that, and more. (Look for Murph's take on Xero next week.)
When we travel and get in front of clients and readers, we learn so much more and are able to share so much more. One term (not a new term) that I heard at the Xero Road Show that really stuck with me and reinforced why it is a great time to be an accounting professional is "After The Fact Accountant". Are you an after the fact accountant? If so, you may not consider this to be a great time to be an accounting professional because you are most likely struggling to keep and grow your business. However, if you are leveraging the tools and technologies that are available to you that allow you to truly become a trusted business advisor to your clients, then you know this is a great time to be an accounting professional because there has never been a time when you had so many tools available at reasonable prices to help you stand out and become part of your clients' daily operations. The day of the after the fact accountant are over. The day of the "here and now" accountant is here. Which one are you? If you want to grow and thrive, you should be thinking about becoming a "here and now" accountant because the opportunities are endless.
As the Publisher and Managing Partner of Intuitive Accountant, I am excited about the tools and technologies that are available to the accounting professional. I know that when you embrace the tools and technologies that are available to you and become a "here and now" accountant, you will uncover countless opportunities. There are not enough people coming out of college to fill the jobs left by the boomers and there are millions of small businesses that need a true trusted advisor. The advisor who embraces the change (dare I say CLOUD) and acts like a "here and now" accountant is the accounting professional of the future and we will do our best to give you insight into the tools and technologies that will help you grow your business. This truly is a great time to be an accounting professional if you are willing to become a "here and now" accountant. We look forward to being a part of your success.
